Communications & Email

Send branded invitations and updates to your people, through your own email account.

What this does

All In One Nonprofit lets you connect your own MailerLite account once, and then send branded emails (such as event invitations) to the people you already have: your donors from Donor Management, your volunteers from Volunteer Management, and a contacts list you keep for vendors, partners, and others. The email goes out under your organization's name and address, your subscribers and unsubscribes stay in your own account, and All In One Nonprofit never holds your list.

You sign up with MailerLite directly and pay them directly. All In One Nonprofit connects to your account using a key you paste in; we do not resell or mark up their plans.

Importing your contacts

You can build the organization Contacts list by hand, or bring one in all at once with the Import CSV button on the Organization Contacts address book. The columns are Name, Email, Type, and Notes, and Email is required. Contacts whose email already exists are updated, new emails are added, and blank or invalid-email rows are skipped. A summary shows how many were added, updated, and skipped.

How to connect

  1. Create a MailerLite account at MailerLite for Nonprofits (free tier available; verified nonprofits get 30% off paid plans).
  2. In MailerLite, verify your sending domain (so emails come from your own address, not a generic one).
  3. In MailerLite, create an API key under the developer/API settings and copy it.
  4. In the Technology app, open Communications, paste your key, add your from name and from email, and click Connect.

Once connected, a Send invitation button appears on your published events, and you choose which audiences to include.

Choosing your MailerLite plan

What All In One Nonprofit can do depends on the MailerLite plan you choose. Here is what each level gives you. Pricing scales with the size of your subscriber list, so check MailerLite for Nonprofits for current numbers (nonprofits get 30% off paid plans).

Free $0

All In One Nonprofit assembles your chosen audience into a MailerLite group automatically. You then open MailerLite and send the campaign to that group from their dashboard (composing and sending in the dashboard is included on the free plan).

Growing Business Most common

Works the same way through All In One Nonprofit as the free plan: we build the audience group for you, and you send from the MailerLite dashboard. What you gain over free is on the MailerLite side: many more subscribers, no MailerLite footer, higher sending limits, and extra tools like unlimited templates, landing pages, and selling digital products.

Advanced Full automation

Adds the piece that lets All In One Nonprofit send the email for you in one click, you never leave the app. This is MailerLite's content/custom-HTML capability, which their lower plans do not allow through the connection.

How to send an invitation

  1. Publish your event in Fundraising & Development, then click Send invitation on it.
  2. Choose your audiences: donors, volunteers, your contacts, or paste in extra emails. Donors marked do-not-solicit are skipped automatically.
  3. Edit the subject and message, then send.
  4. On Advanced, it sends right away. On Free or Growing Business, you will see "your audience is ready in MailerLite as the group [name]", open MailerLite, find that group under Subscribers, create a campaign to it, and click send.
